Construction of Lira District Vocational Training Center

To support youth empowerment and skills development in northern Uganda, Bwino Engineering constructed a modern Vocational Training Center in Lira City under a government-funded initiative. The 800-square-meter facility includes four fully equipped workshops (carpentry, masonry, tailoring, and electrical), two classrooms, an administration block, and staff quarters. We used locally sourced materials where possible, including sand from Otuke and bricks from Ongino, reducing transport costs and boosting local economies. The design incorporated passive cooling, natural lighting, and rainwater harvesting to ensure sustainability. Our team trained 15 local artisans during construction, promoting capacity building. The project was completed in nine months despite logistical challenges in the region. Since opening, the center has trained over 300 youths, contributing to economic recovery and employment generation in post-conflict northern Uganda.
