Renovation and Painting of Old Kampala Municipal Courthouse

The historic Old Kampala Municipal Courthouse, a colonial-era structure with significant legal and cultural importance, required urgent renovation to preserve its architectural integrity while upgrading its functionality. Bwino Engineering was contracted to handle the exterior and interior painting, surface restoration, and waterproofing of the building’s façade. Our team began with a full assessment of the masonry, repairing cracks, removing mold, and applying anti-efflorescence treatment. We used weather-resistant, breathable paints suitable for old structures, maintaining the original color scheme approved by heritage authorities. Interior spaces were repainted with low-VOC, anti-microbial coatings to improve air quality. Over 1,200 square meters of surface were treated, including ornate ceilings and wooden trims. The project was executed in phases to allow court operations to continue uninterrupted. The revitalized courthouse now stands as a symbol of dignity, history, and renewed public service.
