Bwino Engineering was awarded the contract to construct a new 16-bed maternity wing at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, a critical healthcare expansion aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality in the Rwenzori sub-region. The project spanned 10 months and included full architectural execution — from site excavation and reinforced concrete foundations to roofing, electrical installations, plumbing, and finishing. We collaborated with medical planners to ensure compliance with infection control standards, including proper ventilation, clean water access, and waste disposal systems. The building features solar-powered lighting, rainwater harvesting, and a dedicated generator backup. Our team employed over 35 local laborers, fostering skills transfer and community involvement. The maternity wing was handed over on schedule and has since been operational, serving over 400 deliveries annually with improved safety and comfort for mothers and newborns.
